About

Hello! I am a marine microbial ecologist captivated by the complexity and interconnectivity of life in the sea. I am especially interested in untangling the ways in which marine microbes interact with their environment and with each other, and placing this information into the context of global ocean biogeochemistry. My approach incorporates observations and experiments in both the field and in the laboratory.
My present postdoctoral work in the lab of Mary Ann Moran at the University of Georgia is focused on the identification of genes crucial to establishing and maintaining the metabolite-mediated relationships between phytoplankton and heterotrophic bacteria. I received my PhD in 2021 from the UC Santa Cruz under the supervision of Alexandra Z. Worden at both the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel.
